January 2010

I’m going to seriously try my hardest to get better at this blogging thing. So instead of waiting the entire year to write down what we did month by month, I’m going to make it a lot easier on myself and just do it after it happens. We shall see though…

So we started our winter bowling league again. The winter team consists of Zach, myself, Beth and Jill. We’re going to be good this season damn it, I just know it!

We tried some new restaurants this month. Yellow Brick Pizza and Dirty Frank’s. Both are mouthwatering good!! Zach found his Old Style beer at Dirty Frank’s so he’s set for life now.

I started playing volleyball again with the USAV girls and also on Wednesday night with a bunch of attorneys. Trevor Clark from Mr. Collin’s office asked if I could play, so hey why not?!? Since my motto for 2010 is life is too short and only what you make of it, JUST DO IT!

One of the guys on my volleyball team, Eric, recommend that we try the sport of curling. So we tried our hand at it on a Saturday when the Columbus Curling Club has instructional classes. And it was so much fun. In fact, so much fun that we’re going to join a league in March. But seriously, what better way to spend your time than to curl with beer!!

December 2009

December kept us busy. This year the Leckrone’s did something different. We sponsored a needy family in Gahanna and shopped for two little girls. We had so much fun and it meant so much to us all.

Zach and I took our annual Christmas trip and this year we ended up in Niagara Falls, Canada. It was really pretty but freezing. We stayed at the Hilton across from the falls. We had a spectacular view with a Jacuzzi and what they called a “fireplace”. We ate, drank, shopped, and relaxed in the Jacuzzi and the pool, and we gambled. Only this time we left and our pockets were empty. But hey, you win some and you lose some.
We also took a drive up to a really cute town called, Niagara on the Lake. It was quaint, much like uptown Westerville. But it would be nice to go to in the summer when all the wineries are open and you can rent a bike and just ride around the town.

And of course we were busy on Christmas Eve and Day. We always spend Eve with all the Leckrone’s and go to the late church service at Peace. Then we spent Christmas morning and lunch with my family. This year lunch was at grandma’s. And we headed over to Linda’s around 5:00 for a wonderful dinner. It was just the four of us since Sara and Adam spent the evening with his family. They came over later to open up all our stocking stuffers. It was a great Christmas.

And of course we spent New Year’s with Steph and Ryan. It’s always so great to be with them!! As usual we play cards, eat lots of great food. This year Ryan fixed homemade pizza. And they had an entire bar stocked with lots of drinks. But boy did we feel like crap on the way home!

November 2009

Lots of birthdays this month for us: mom, Al, Randy, and dad!!

We took in a few CBJ games this month. One of them was for Al’s birthday. The whole fam went to Boston’s for dinner and then to the game. We had a lot of fun.

We had a really big trip this month. We went with 4 other couples for a Las Vegas trip!! We were invited by the Pittman’s to join them and their friends for the Michigan v. OSU game. And we were so glad that we accepted the offer. We stayed at Planet Hollywood and had the best time. We actually came back with more money than we went out there with, all thanks to the craps tables!! We did lots of shopping and drinking. We even went to a really swanky bar on top of the Rio and some other places, but hey what happens in Vegas… Stays in Vegas!

October 2009

Great news!! I got the Master Data job at BA. I started the 18th of this month and I LOVE IT!!

We started our fall bowling league on Friday nights. Our team this time consists of some fierce competetors: Zach, myself, Beth and Josh Thatcher. And of course it’s more drinking than bowling:)

My personal training is going great!! I’ve lost 11 inches and almost 12 pounds. So all that money forked out each month has paid off!

We also went to Josh's Halloween bash. Zach and I dressed up as an "on fira" couple:) This was the first time I've ever gotten Zach to dress up! And did he look HOT of what?!?

September 2009

I applied for a position at Beauty Avenues within LimitedBrands. So we’re keeping our fingers crossed that I get it, because this JOB isn’t working out at the TAC. My shift has been 2pm – 11pm for the past 4 months. And things are really tough for Zach and I since we’re living with my parents and we are on such weird schedules. But it’s not the first time we’ve hit a road bump. We’ll prevail!

It was also our 3rd Anniversary on September 30, which we celebrated over the weekend at Eddie Merlot and it was so fabulous. We had drinks, sushi, and shared the Steak Diane!! I give it 5 stars!! (oh and my parents were out of town, so you’d think that we would have been parting it up, but instead we were in bed at 10:00)

But on our actual anniversary we spent it in the ER at Mt. Carmel East. Zach had been out mowing that day, and was stung but a bunch of bees. He started to swell up and so he called his parents to come get him at a neighbors house. They took him to urgent care but they said he needed to go straight to the ER. So the Plain Twp medics came to get him. I was on my way into work and didn’t hear that Linda had called to tell me what happened and so when I got to work, the assistant told me that my husband was being rushed to the hospital. I immediately headed for the door, panicked having no idea what was the matter. After doing mach speed to get to the hospital I had actually beat the squad and Al and Linda.

When I saw him, he was so incredibly red, splotchy and swollen and he could barely swallow. The bees had gotten him on his neck and legs. I felt so bad for him. But they pumped him full of drugs and sent us on our way 5 hours later. But he quickly recovered by eating some Roosters wings and dumpster fries!!

August 2009

This month went to Ft. Meyers with Matt and Jen Garman. They were so gracious to let us stay in their parent’s condo with them. It was sooo hot, but we had such a great time hanging at the beach, the pool, catching a minor league baseball game, and hanging with the Minerva’s.

Zach and the boys had a “guy” day and spent quite a bit of time out on the boat, but unfortunately a storm rolled in and forced then to come in early. Jen and I spent the day shopping until we dropped. Jen and Matt just found out that they were pregnant again for their second! So we can expect to see another adorable little Garman in March 2010!

Zach and I went to the CD101 Summer Fest Concert. We had a BLAST. Lots of Indy bands. We had such a good time. Hopefully they’ll do it again next year!

We also celebrated Aaron’s return from Iraq. It was such a great party that Lori and Bob threw at their golf club, Highland Lakes. We’re sooo glad he’s back home safe:)

July 2009

Ohhh July....

So this month was jammed packed for us. Zach’s trip to Vegas with the boys; packing our life away into boxes; Caroline and Sara’s birthdays; and finally my 10 year high school reunion. Oh… and how could I forget moving!!

So Zach went to Vegas for a REALLY long weekend. I won’t even go into that story because it raises my blood pressure just thinking about it (Just watch the movie Hang Over and you’ll know what I’m talking about)
While they were having a blast, I was at home in the freaking dead of heat packing and cleaning things with my mom. He owes me soooo big for this!!!!!!!

Anyway, I digress.

So I’m going to try to make this as clear as possible… The last week of July begins like this:
July 21, Zach returns home from Vegas. House is still in shambles and not organized for moving day, which is in less than a week.
July 25, Packing our house up before going to Caroline’s birthday party at 3:00 just before going to my 10 Year High School Reunion at 6:00. Sine I was in charge in all I had to be there early to set up.
July 26, Moving day. After sweating our balz off with all our families help, we were finally out of our house around 5:30pm.
Oh BTW… moving while being hung over from my reunion festivities not a good idea.
We had stuff shoved in places we don’t even know how it got shoved into. Crap is all over my parent’s house, cars, Zach’s parent’s house, the POD, my dad’s new garage… So after moving ALLLLL day, we had to turn around and shower and be at Linda’s for Sara’s birthday dinner by 6:30.
OMG I’ve never been so exhausted and tired in my ENTIRE LIFE.

July 27, Closing date, of which I didn’t have a clue where we packed the check book. Yup that’s right!

I will never again do that - EVERRRRRRRRRRR!!

Oh, so you ask now… where are you living? And the answer is: with my parent’s:)

June 2009

So GOOD NEWS to report. We got an offer on our house!!! YAY. We are set to close July 27th. And now the fun of packing begins.

We went camping for the first time since we’ve been married. Well… if you cal it camping. Our friends the Pittman’s have a piece of land out at Buckeye Lake. So they threw a party and we all brought our tents and sleeping bags (see picture). It was hysterical. But they did have a Port-A-John for us!!!

We traveled to Troy, Ohio to go to our good friends, Stephanie and Ryan, wedding reception. It was so nice for everyone to see their pictures and video from Jamaica where they actually got married in May.

What more can I say June is notorious for Comm Fest. Just Beth and I went this year since Zach had to work.

We went to Lake Erie with Stephanie, Ryan, Abbie and Agnus and Pat. It’s an annual tradition. It was sooo fun. The boat ride this time was much more dramatic than years past. We almost killed a man with our propeller when we hit a sandbar leaving the slit. But that was just the beginning of it. The fish weren’t biting that day, but myself and Ryan were clinging on the side of the boat from being sea sick which was not so good. I think go forward, I'm going to just stay back and tan my buns on the beach:) And we of course celebrated Angun's birthday by going to a little dinner place right on the water and then to Mona Ami where we had drunken muscles and watched Agnus and Pat dance their little hearts away!

I also got so tired of being a lard arse, so I walked into the gym one day and said, sign me up for a personal trainer. I know… it was totally random. When I was done signing my life away and our bank account, I called Zach just to tell him what I did. I prefaced the conversation with, “I just bought something for myself and I don’t want you to be mad at me when I tell you.” And of course it was, WHAT DID YOU DO!! But he wasn’t mad at all.

May 2009

Zach, Beth and I went to the Killers concert at the LC. It was Cinco De Mayo too so we hit up La Fagata before going to the concert. It was soo much fun. They put on the best show. If you ever get a chance to go see them, DO IT!

Stacy, Jessie and I finalized our plans for the 10 year reunion in July.

Stephanie and Ryan got married in Jamaica and from the pictures it was beautiful.

April 2009

Well, good news!! I accepted a position with the Limited. I started on the 6th and they gave me my years and benefits!! Lower salary, but I’m not complaining. I’ve got a job now!!

Not a lot to report this month regarding the house except, yup, you guessed it... we’re still picking up and cleaning everyday. We’ve had a lot of traffic this month but still no offers.

It was Linda’s birthday too. We went to Sara’s for dinner with Jan and Steve. It was nice.

It was also Stephanie Snedaker’s and Steve Bowman’s wedding. It was really unique! Both the wedding and reception were held at the Columbus Athenaeum downtown in one of their banquet rooms. We had lots of fun. So congrats to the newly weds.

We took in a Clippers game too!

March 2009

It’s pretty tough getting up every day just to head to the computer room to search for jobs. It’s practically a job in itself. YUCK. I try to be as positive as I can. At least I got severance for a while. Let’s just hope it doesn’t run out before I get a job. Because I swear if getting unemployment is as hard as it is to fill out online, then I don’t know what I’ll do. You practically have to know every single thing that you’ve done in your lifetime to fill out one of those forms. And yet… well. I won’t be mean, but I don’t know how some people get on unemployment when it was even hard for me to fill out the damn form….

But I did get a lead this month about a job offer… so the Limited called me on St. Patty’s Day and asked if I’d be interested in a position in the TAC. Of course I am exploring my options because I don’t know how much longer I can take this “unemployed bizness”.

Speaking of St. Patty's Day... Beth, Jill, Kathelen, Melissa and I went out downtown and we had a blast!

This month I had Stephanie’s Bachelorette party in Cinci. We went to dinner and back to a suite that we had at a hotel. We played games and drank It was lots of fun!

It was also Zach’s 30th Birthday this month. I threw him a little surprise party at Winking Lizard in Worthington. We had quite a few people come out for the parrrtay! Al made him a big sign that says “LOOK WHO’S 30” and we put all sorts of funny pictures up. He hated me for it!!

And we finished up our bowling league. Not to mention that there were only 8 teams and somehow we finished up 8th! LOL

February 2009

Oh St. Cupid has stuck again… my birthday. We got a couple’s massage at Massage Envy, had lunch at Latitude 41 (he knew… my fave!) and then bowling of course. After bowling we went to Otani with a bunch of people of which included lots of karaoke and sake bombs!! It was a great birthday.

The biggest part of this month was our trip to Hawaii with my parents for their 30th Anniversary!! Oh, what fun times we had. I will finish my blog and then post it for this month.

But amidst the great time we just had in Hawaii, unfortunately we came back to find out that I had lost my job at the Limited while we were gone, along with my other team members due to the economy. What a great way to end the vacation, NOT.

January 2009

YAY this month I’m finally done with Beat Cop. Man, was that not the worst time EVER!!! I’m just not cut out for this whole 8p to 8a shift. Who can sleep when it’s light and not sleep when it’s dark? NOT ME!

I contacted some girls from high school about arranging our BIG 10 year high school reunion. We plan on getting together to come up with some ideas…

We also continue to remain optimistic about selling our house!! It is getting a bit tiring constantly picking up and cleaning almost everyday. But we do it. Not much else going on… we started our bowling league. Our team consists of Zach, myself, Beth and Jill. We’re not so good, but at least we have a good time!
And we’re really looking forward to our big adventure next month to the sun and beach. Hawaii here we come!!!
